EU-Egypt Innovation Fund

Supporting Innovation …. Promoting Entrepreneurship

The overall goal of the EU-Egypt Innovation Fund (EEIF) is to support research outputs exploitation and innovation with closer links to national or European industries. More specifically the fund will provide competitive grants to cooperative projects that aim at enhancing the innovative capabilities of industrial companies and notably the privately owned small and medium–sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Fund is composed of two grant schemes with different objectives, eligibility criteria and types of actions

Grant Scheme 1: (€100,000 – €500,000)

The main objective of this scheme is to support initiatives and projects that contribute to the achievement of sustainable development in Egypt with emphasis on increasing capital investment, enhancing technological innovation and improving competitiveness of the different economic sectors in Egypt . Also this scheme will concentrate on strengthening cooperation with European and regional counterparts in order to enable the transfer of technology, know how, and best practices to Egyptian institutions.

Grant Scheme 2: (€10,000 – €25,000)

The main objectives of Scheme 2 are enhancing collaboration between the research community and the industry to embark on fruitful cooperation aiming at technological innovation, raising awareness on importance of R&D and innovation, and enabling SMEs and entrepreneurs to solve technical problems and develop certain ideas that do not need mega financing. Also this scheme will support activities aiming at strengthening networking/cooperation with European and regional counterparts to promote technology transfer and implement best practices.

خطة المنح (2) : (€ 10.000 -- € 25،000) وتتمثل الأهداف الرئيسية للخطة (2) تعزيز التعاون بين مراكز البحوث والمجتمع والصناعة على الشروع في تعاون مثمر يهدف الى الابتكار التكنولوجي ، وزيادة الوعي على أهمية البحث والتطوير والابتكار ، وتمكين اصحاب المشاريع والمؤسسات الصغيرة والمتوسطة الحجم على حل المشاكل الفنية وتطوير بعض الافكار التي تفعل لا حاجة الى تمويل ضخم. كما ستدعم هذه الخطة الانشطه التي تهدف الى تعزيز التواصل / التعاون مع نظيراتها الاوروبية والاقليمية لتعزيز نقل التكنولوجيا وتنفيذ افضل الممارسات.

The RDIN is represented in most research organizations in Egypt by Focal Points (FPs) who help promote FP7 in their institutions and provide support for researchers to realize the RDI Programme’s objectives.
