Clinical Laboratory Experience for chemistry :
To fulfill the experience requirement for the International Technologist in Chemistry examination, you must have clinical laboratory experience in 8 of the 15 procedures listed:
• Blood gases
• Carbohydrates
• Electrolytes
• Electrophoresis
• Enzymes
• Heme compounds
• Immunochemistry
• Lipids/lipoproteins
• Non-protein nitrogen compounds
To fulfill the experience requirement for the International Technologist in Hematology examination, you must have clinical laboratory experience in ALL of the following procedures:
• Point-of-care
• Proteins
• Quality control program management
• Therapeutic drug monitoring
• Toxicology
• Vitamins/hormones
Clinical Laboratory Experience for hematology :
Experience is also required in 2 of the 3 procedures listed:
• Blood smear, evaluation and differential
• Complete blood count
• Quality control: performance and evaluation
• Routine coagulation tests (e.g., PT, APTT, D-dimer)
• Instrument maintenance / troubleshooting
To fulfill the experience requirements for the International Technologist in Microbiology examination, you must have experience in 3 of 6 of the following areas:
• Miscellaneous tests (e.g., ESR, sickle screen, manual cell count, reticulocyte)
• Other coagulation tests (e.g., fibrinogen, factor assays, hypercoagulability)
Clinical Laboratory Experience for microbiliogy :
• Bacteriology
• Molecular Microbiology
• Mycobacteriology
• Mycology
o ABO and Rh Typing
• Parasitology
• Virology
Clinical Laboratory Experience
To fulfill the experience requirement for the International Technologist in Blood Banking examination, you must have clinical laboratory experience in ALL of the following procedures:
• Serologic and/or Molecular Testing
o Indications for transfusion
o Antibody detection and identification
o Crossmatching
o Direct antiglobulin tests
o Tests for other blood group antigens
• Routine Problem Solving
o Transfusion reactions
o Immune hemolytic anemias
o Hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN)
o Rh immune globulin studies
• Quality Control/Assurance
o Component preparation for storage and administration
o Reagents, equipment
• Laboratory Operations
• Donor Collection, Processing, and Testing (Proficiency may be demonstrated through performance, observation or simulation)
o Donor selection, preparation and collection
o Processing and donor testing
